El tiempo en el video se da por la representación de un lugar virtual, donde su lógica se resume en que lo visualmente ausente de manera continua se convierte en presente y lo visualmente presente en lo ausente, sobre el tiempo real que se experimenta la percepción temporal subjetiva; en la cual dependiendo de los ritmos que se generan con la edición, se sentirá más prolongada o breve. Generalmente se siente mas largo un video si no posee hilo conductor y/o tiene naturaleza búclica.
En la filosofía escolástica, lo virtual es aquello que existe en potencia pero no en acto; por tanto lo virtual no se opone a lo real, sino a lo actual. Levý define lo virtual a partir de una semilla: la semilla es la potencia del árbol; más sin embargo la semilla es problemática como lo virtual, el problema de la semilla radica en que esta no tiene clara la forma exacta en la que va a crecer el árbol, pues este dependerá de condiciones temporales y espaciales para su desarrollo; la misma especie de árbol que crece en dos lugares distintos va a ser diferente dependiendo los límites que la naturaleza le ponga en el camino.
Pierre Levý define la virtualización como el movimiento inverso a la actualización (invención de una solución exigida por una problemática compleja) la virtualización entonces en lugar de definirse principalmente por su "actualidad" (una «solución»), encuentra su consistencia esencial en un campo problemático, es decir en un problema permanente; en otras palabras transforma la actualidad inicial de carácter particular a una problemática general, o bien también se le puede definir como una pregunta. Lo virtual también se desprende del “aquí y el ahora” por ejemplo un documento en drive acontece permanentemente, en todo tiempo y lugar, se puede acceder a él desde aquí o cualquier parte del mundo, en distintas tipografías e idiomas con el mismo significado. Como se puede acceder desde cualquier lugar, no hay un tiempo en el que exista, pues existe en el futuro pero también el pasado, existe en el no lugar.

Time in video is given by a representation of a virtual place, where logic is summarized in what is visually absent, turning itself in current and what is visually current turns into absence continuously upon real time changing the way in which the subjective perception of time is experimented with. Depending on editing, it will feel longer if it lacks a thread and/or has a looping nature.
In scholastic philosophy, Virtual is what exists in potency but not in deed. Furhthermore, virtual is not opposite of real but current. Levý defines it from a tree seed; however the seed is also problematic like Virtual: The problem of it lies on the fact the form of the final tree is not quite certain at this stage, since it will rely on the tempotral and spatial conditions of its development; The same tree species growing in a second space with different conditions is going to be diffferent depending on the obstacles nature places during growth time. Pierre Levý definess the virtualizatioon as the inverse movement to the actualization (invention of a demanded solution to a complex problem). The virtualization then, instead of being defined mainly by its "actual" state (a solution), finds its essential awareness in a problematic field: a permanent problem. In other words transform the initial actuality of a particular detail to a general probem, thus it also can be defined as a question.Virtual also detatches it from the here and now. For example, a drive file exists constantly, in all places and at all times. It can be accessed from here, or anywhere else in the world, in different typographies and languages with the same meaning. Since it can be accessed anywhere, there is no time in which it exists because it exists in the future but also in the past. It exists in a non-place.
